Year 8 Parents Evening

For your information the Year 8 Parents Evening will be held on Thursday 19th November from 4:30pm to 7:00pm. The evening will provide you with an invaluable opportunity to discuss with subject teachers the progress your child has made so far. This is a significant opportunity and we hope you are able to attend.

The electronic booking sheet will include time of appointment, subject, teacher and location. For more information on how to book your appointment online please follo...w this link If you are having problems with booking an appointment online please call our Student Administration Team on 01909 552414 or email

Appointments are booked to last a maximum of four minutes to allow for movement time. If you have something particular you wish to discuss, you can indicate this in the comments box when you make your appointment.

Please encourage your child to attend with you; the evening is after all about them, how well they are doing and what they need to do to improve. The evening’s appointments will end promptly at 7.00pm and the buildings vacated by 7.15pm.

In some cases students are taught by more than one teacher for the same subject. In such a situation the class teacher will inform the students which teacher will see which students. This is done to avoid over booking. You can of course make an appointment with a particular teacher if you have an issue you would like to raise with them.

As this is a subject parents’ evening, if you have concerns that you wish to discuss with your child’s Form Tutor, please arrange a separate appointment by telephone. However, if you have concerns regarding special educational needs, please ring Mrs Woodward in the Learning Support Faculty on 01909 550066 ext 427 to arrange an appointment.

Car parking is available in the bus park off Doe Quarry Lane. Please do not park in front of the Main Entrance or on the service road at the rear of the school as there is insufficient room here. If you are unable to walk up the stairs to access the first floor a lift is available; please see the receptionist located at the entrance to the New Building on arrival.

Jessica Ennis Hill 'My Best Teacher'

Current Olympic and World Heptathlon gold medallist Jessica Ennis-Hill has given a glowing reference to our very own Co-Headteacher Mr Eccles. On Friday 23rd October, in the Times Educational Supplement (TES) as part of their ‘My Best Teacher’ feature, Jessica Ennis-Hill has named Mr Eccles as one of her best teachers.

Jessica goes onto say ‘Mr Eccles was Head of PE, and his passion and enthusiasm for every single sport we did was admirable. His energy for everything from rounders to athletics was an inspiration in its own right.’

This is great recognition for Mr Eccles and he has carried on this great work at Dinnington High School!20151028_091135.jpg

Governors Afternoon Tea

What a lovely afternoon we had yesterday for the Governors Afternoon Tea!

Nominated students were rewarded for their hard work and achievements over this half term with a delicious afternoon tea which was accompanied by live music performed by students, and also a magician.

It was a fantastic afternoon and we would like to thank parents and governors for supporting the event. We hope everyone had an enjoyable afternoon!
