The Whole School rewards policy is to be uniformly and consistently applied by all staff. Its purpose is to reward those behaviours and attitudes that we value and wish all students to repeat during every lesson. It should serve as a means of motivating students, raising their self esteem as learners and reinforcing basis values and positive behaviours. The framework provides individual staff and Curriculum areas with a clear set of graded strategies for rewarding pupils continually throughout the school year.
The following applies equally to the two areas within which a rewards policy applies i.e. Faculty/ Subject Areas and Student Welfare System
(Year groups and Tutor groups):
- Rewards should be regular, frequent and consistently applied
- All students should have the opportunity to receive at least one form of positive recognition in every lesson
- Verbal praise should be used at all times to reinforce basic attitudes and behaviours that we want all students to display. i.e. entering a classroom correctly, wearing uniform correctly, attempting to answer a question, using good manners, having the correct equipment etc
